Sports Conflict Lab - Taking on the World of Conflict in Sports

Sports Conflict Lab

A New Era in Sports: Welcome to Sports Conflict Lab:

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of Sports Conflict Lab—an initiative born from real world experience with conflict in sports, and the realization that successful conflict management skills are essential to all success in sports, and unsuccessful conflict management always damages and sometimes destroys.

On one side, conflict can unravel a season, a team, an organization. On the other side, when handled well, conflict can become the spark that lifts culture, performance, relationships, and results.

At Sports Conflict Lab, our mission is clear: to arm coaches, athletes, administrators, and organizations with the skills, strategies and support to manage conflict before it manages them. In sports, people and teams train bodies, sharpen minds, invest in gear, psychology, travel, recovery—and yet, a single moment of mismanaged conflict, can waste it all. That’s why the Lab exists: to fill the huge gap in conflict management skills in sports, because while conflict is universal, conflict in sport is unique.

Why Bill Taylor started the Lab:

Meet Bill Taylor—a seasoned former collegiate head coach with more than two decades of championship level coaching and administrative experience, who faced a critical moment in his own career that made him pay attention to the very real impact of conflict. After navigating a deep and challenging conflict later in his coaching career, Bill chose to pursue a Master’s in Conflict Management, and launched Sports Conflict Lab to bring simple and effective conflict knowledge and skills to the entire world of sports, where these skills are greatly lacking.

And here’s Bill in his own words—why he created this Lab, why it matters, and why now.

What Services We Offer & Why They Matter

Sports Conflict Lab offers services in three core categories:

  • Conflict Education and Skill Building – teaching conflict awareness and equipping teams, leaders and organizations with simple useable tools to world through most conflict.

  • Keynotes and Clinics – providing short keynotes and clinics on key aspects of conflict in sports.

  • Mediation and Arbitration – providing active neutral facilitation for active dangerous unresolved conflicts.

Why it matters: Culture wins championships. Conflict is culture...it is the ultimate test of culture. So conflict determines ultimate success or failture.

“Conflict is the greatest threat to success in sports—and the greatest opportunity.” -Bill Taylor

Most in sports do not have effective conflict management skills because it is overlooked and until now there have been very few resources available. Those that address this critical subject will rise higher and will have a big competitive advantage.

Our Vision: Turning Conflict Into Competitive Advantage:

Our goal with Sports Conflict Lab is not just to help teams survive conflict, it’s to help them thrive through it. By turning conflict from something feared into something leveraged, we support stronger culture, better performance, improved relationships, and long-term sustainability. Bill’s journey from coach to conflict strategist brings real-world credibility and deep empathy for the high-stakes environment of sport.

As we launch, we invite you to join us: whether you’re a coach noticing tension in your program, an athletic director facing culture issues, an athlete dealing with internal team friction, or a sports organization looking for smarter conflict strategy — we’re here.

Everyone in sport is looking for the next big thing to achieve more than ever before. Everyone is looking for every competitive advantage. Conflict Management in sports is the next big thing, even though conflict has been a factor throughout time. Sports Conflict Lab can provide a competitive advantage that increases performance and protects all the other investments made.

Thank you for being part of this launch. We’re excited for what’s ahead—and we believe the best in sport includes the best in how we handle the human side of competition.
